The stages for both ways are as follows:

1. Offline Method:

A contract between the seller and the buyer needs to be notarized, complete the relevant paperwork and send it to the regional Registrar of Transportation (RTO).The buyer should receive the required paperwork from the seller.

2.Online Method:

  • Download RTO Form 29: This form must be downloaded in order to sell the car within the state.
  • Download Form 30 to sell the car outside of the state.
  • Fill out the forms. Complete the necessary forms (Form 29 or Form 30) and send them online.
  • Pay the required fees: Depending on the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and the kind of vehicle, the price of transferring ownership varies.
  • Get approval from the relevant authority: Following the submission of the forms, the buyer and seller will get approval from the relevant authorities.
  • New RC number issued: The buyer will get a new registration certificate proving that the vehicle has been lawfully transferred after all conditions are satisfied.Please note that additional steps may be involved if there is a requirement for further documentation or if the vehicle is hypothecated to a bank.

  3. Log in or Register: Access the portal by logging in if you have already registered. Please register if you are a new user.
  4. Enter Vehicle Details: Choose the state RTO after entering your car’s registration number.
  5. Start the Ownership Transfer Process: Select the ownership transfer option and enter the necessary data.
  6. Pay Processing Fee: The processing fee, which usually varies from Rs. 300 to Rs. 500, must be paid.
  7. Verification and Documentation: Verify the information and send in the application. For your records, retain a copy of the application that was filed.

The website also offers comprehensive instructions and forms for various ownership transfer scenarios, including standard sales, transfers upon the owner’s death, and transfers of ownership for cars acquired through public auctions.
